Lots of Little Boys

Benson cheering on his brothers at their basketball game. With Waddles, of course. Poor Waddles gets so filthy at the end of everyday. I wash him as much as I can but it's tough because Bens doesn't want to let go of him for a second.

Maybe if Benson was my first child I would feed him myself but... yeah. He's seriously the messiest eater! He does really well with a spoon and fork though! He likes to sit in his high chair with his feet pressing against it, haha.

We usually find a stuffed animal or two in our bed.

Well, now it's not just Waddles- he has to carry around his blanket too. And by carry that means wrapped around his shoulders and once it falls off he screams for it to be fixed, all day long!! This was on a day that a tooth was breaking through so it was kind of a rough day!

We live next to Nathan who goes to Negley with Ty. His little brother Jackson fits right into the mix so it's fun for these guys and a lot of little boys running around the back of our houses. Hardly any cars come through so it's nice that they can just play. They love trading Pokemon cards, riding bikes and shooting baskets.

Shad's Sayings:

"I want eleventeen!"

"Shad, did you have any Paw Patrol dreams?" "No, I save it for the night."

"Do you need to go potty?" "No, I'll go tomorrow at 6 o'clock after we get the boys from school."

He says all the time- "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" And then we have to compare to see if it's the same ;)

For the last few months instead of answering with "yes"or "okay" he says, "I will!" to everything!

My friend, Brittany Staker, shared this on her Instagram feed- it touched me SO much. I don't know why it hit me so hard that Heavenly Father is literally my Dad cheering me on.

I told Shad to help Benson smile, haha. He looks like a weird alien baby! Not cute but pretty funny!

Spoiled kid- if his sippy doesn't have a handle, he won't hold it. He's definitely the youngest. He is in total heaven though when I sit and hold him while he drinks. He cuddles Waddles and plays with my shirt or hair.

I came into the living room and found Shad reading to Benson.

The other night I sat and held Benson for a while and read books to Shaddie. Normally I just put him to bed while I read to Shad but that night I just wanted to savor him. He's turning into a little boy and becoming a full on toddler. He seriously isn't a baby anymore. He's imitating the older boys, understands what I say and has opinions and wants. He slowly just fell asleep on my lap and I just snuggled him. So nice to just slow down and pause for a while. I'm trying to enjoy these babies while I can but need to do it more! Shaddie loves playing on my snapchat- I hardly use it but keep it on my phone for him every once in awhile.  That's why this picture is with such a nice filter- how I dream of my skin being after the resurrection!! ;)

Jackson Ploeger hung out with us on Friday. They played so well together all day long! It was good for Shaddie to have a buddy. I tease TJ that he didn't give me dark babies even though he's half Colombian so I have to borrow the dark kids when I can. ;)

Valentine's Day

We had a good little Valentine's Day here, even with TJ gone all week. I have fun doing little, simple things to celebrate with the boys because they get SO excited over the smallest of things. I had grabbed a few things from the dollar store and decorated the table on V-day morning and they were ecstatic. We didn't have to do chores or practice the piano and they got to read Valentines books before school instead of piano so that was a major treat to them. I helped with Ty's party at school and Levi's party a half hour later so the little boys got their party fun out and the teachers are so good about letting them be apart of things.

The first Valentine's Day box we had to make. I went to Kohls to ask if they had an extra orange Nike box that I could have since Ty wanted a basketball box and it would be so much easier if it was already orange for a basketball court. They didn't have one (or just wouldn't give me one?) but there were a lot of men's Nike shoes on clearance. I ended up buying a pair for TJ since he needed a new pair. Anyways, they ended up not fitting and I had to return the shoes without the box since we made it right away. So I unintentionally got my free Nike box! :)

Shad loves being at the school parties!

Ty doing his Cupid's Slingshot- candy hearts were flying everywhere! It was cute!

Making Valentine Slime! I was in charge of the science experiment center at the party and this actually turned out perfect for it! The kids loved it and it was easy to make.

The kindergarteners had this cute photo prop set up- they are so cute!

On the way over to the Valentine's Day parties at school, I was putting Benson in my Ergo baby carrier on my back- which we have been using it daily for over a month now and he's super used to me putting him in it. Well, somehow Bens arched back, looking at something in the sky and fell backwards. I tried to catch him but it happened so fast. I totally watched him fall and hit his head on the sidewalk and could hear the awful, stomach-wrenching sound of bone hitting concrete. I braced myself for a head laceration or a skull fracture- it was that bad. I lifted him up and was so surprised to not see any blood. I palpated his head and couldn't even feel a bump! He cried a little but stopped quickly, as if he had just fallen down like normal. I was so perplexed and in awe??! All day long I kept watching him and palpating his head and nothing!! As I was holding him, feeling so bad, I remembered the conference talk I had listened to the day before. I had started deep cleaning the bathroom and stopped, realizing it was going to take a while and I should listen to something to not waste time. I was able to listen to two full talks of Elder Holland's talks on motherhood. It was so uplifting and I kept thinking about his words. In one of them he talked about angels bearing mothers up to assist them in the huge task of raising these kids in today's world. I've always felt my Grandma Retha has been helping me and hearing this again reminded me of that thought. Anyways, as I was holding poor little Bens, I felt total gratitude rush over me and I instantly thought of Elder Holland's talk about angels helping moms. And in that moment, I KNEW that Benson was protected by angels right then and there. And I wouldn't be surprised if that angel was one of my family members who had gone on before. I don't know why sometimes our kids are protected and other times they aren't- all for our learning and growth I'm sure- but on that day I was absolutely certain Benson was protected from great harm and I felt so much gratitude for that, especially as I kept looking as his funny little face and watching him waddle around. :)

Ty's Valentine he made at school:

"I love you,  Levi. I will play with you, Levi. Be my Valentine. I love you Levi. Double love. Best friends for ever. I love love love love love you, Levi. You are special. I love you, Levi. I sorry for my mistakes. You are good, awesome job. Love, Tyrell"

Haha. He gave it to him as a surprise and then hugged and then kept playing as if not that big of deal. I thought it was so cute and again, just can't believe the bond these two have. They rarely fight and are always hugging and wanting to be together. I'm jealous of the relationship they have. I hope so bad they are always close.

I sent a bag of Valentine's stuff for TJ since he was in San Antonio for it. I made a list of 100 things that I love about him- it was actually really refreshing and I'm so glad I did it. It reminded me of why I love this man so and how good he truly is. I also found a 7 lbs giant gummy bear, haha. Gummy bears are his favorite so I had to get him that instead of giant bag, like I usually do ;)

100 Days

For the 100th Day of School, Levi dressed up like an old man. He was so funny about it- he was excited but weirded out by it too. I had to wipe off most of the face paint and mustache and take out the blanket for his belly. He just kept saying, "I look freaky." As I was driving him to school he got super apprehensive and I ended up having to walk him into school instead of the carpool drop off lane :) I'm glad I did though because his teacher looked so good- she's so fun! The kids all looked so cute and once we got there, he was totally fine.

I still use the bumbo to get ready in the morning. Never used it so long for any of my babies! He just has to be as close to me as possible at all times! It really is getting better but he is my most clingiest baby.

Shad told me he was trying to match his hands to his shirt so he colored them.

I had to drive out to east Austin to do an interview with a lady who runs an Equine Therapy ranch. I know, long story, but it's for my holistic healings class that was focusing on complementary and alternative modalities and therapies. Shaddie sure had fun being there and the lady was so nice. It made me long for land and space and to be out in a small town!! Hopefully some day!

Shaddie and Annabelle Horton get creative to entertain themselves every week during Ty and Levi's hour long basketball practice.

Levi earned 10 tickets and chose for me to bring him Panda Express for lunch and eat with him at school. He was beyond excited!! Part of it was because he thought I was coming on a different day and didn't take his lunch or buy lunch because he was waiting for me. He sat there waiting during all of lunch and then started to cry once I didn't come!! I felt bad! His teacher called me and I ran a lunch over to him and told him we would do it the very next day :) Panda Express fixes everything! He told me, "Mom, just come to the cafeteria and wait for me and make sure you stand outside the door so that I can see you from far away and I can come running to you to hug you."

We got heart attacked one night by the Beehives in our ward. Shaddie was so excited (he goes to bed later than everyone else because he still naps during the day). It was so cute because they used forks to stick the hearts in the ground. He thought it was so crazy to have forks stuck all over our yard. Several of the beehives are in my Valiant 11 class so I was so touched they thought of me! I seriously love my primary class! They are the best kids!

Lots of comments about how much he enjoyed his chocolate donut at the grocery store :)

One of the members in our ward, the DelaRosa's, own a bounce house place and hosted a ward party there. The kids loved it, all 4 of them and had a blast with the ward kids. We seriously have the BEST ward!! We'll be SO sad to leave in the summer but keep praying that somehow we'll find a way to stay and not have to move!! We love Plum Creek Ward in the Kyle Texas Stake!

Maiya is in love with Levi- it's SO funny to watch them! They play so well together since she tells him what to do and he totally listens and follows!! haha!  Brittany and I are already planning their wedding ;)

Levi's Sayings:
"Did you know I that I get really distracted by Benson's cuteness?"

He saw a friend from school and I asked him who it was. He said, "Oh just Lucy (while rolling his eyes) she's always trying to tickle me."

"Merry (the guinea pig) loves her Dr. Pepper--- doh!! I mean GREEN pepper! I always get mixed up!"
