The 3 year old

Shad was not excited to go to the doctor's for his well-child check up and was not impressive with the gown he got to wear. There weren't any tears just no smiles and was not impressed by anything :)

Height: 36.5 inches = 25th percentile
Weight: 30 lbs, 2 oz = 33rd percentile

I didn't realize but he's turned into a little bit of smaller kid! I'm so grateful for such a healthy kid. Speech might be our only issue and even then, he's way better than how Ty and Lev sounded at his age.

Benson sure enjoyed the homemade mac and cheese for lunch today. He kept rubbing his eyes and the food got completely all in his eye and eyelashes. He kept laughing and smiling at me with tears running down his face because the food in his eyes made them water- crazy kid!!

I've started putting gel in his hair!
Now I have 3 boys to do hair with- ahhh! Shad's hair won't do anything. It just sticks straight out so that's why his hair is shaved. TJ thinks Benson has the same hair as Levi- very fine and not a whole lot. Ty is the only one with full, thick, super fast growing hair so far! That kid has the hair AND the eyelashes- no fair!

Shad and Benson both LOVE the chair my mom got him for his b-day. They FIGHT over it all day long! This is the first thing they've ever fought over... so it begins!

Chicago Bulls

This boys started basketball at the San Marcos Rec Center and it's the best because they are on the same team- my life is SO easy right now!!! ;) Plus they both love it and I think it'll be a really good season for them. They had their first game on Saturday and I was actually impressed because they had a real ref for the game, music blasting, announced the team on the loudspeaker and called out the starting players. It was pretty cute! They are the Bulls and think it's awesome that they are on Michael Jordan's team.

They think they look AWESOME with their sweat bands and I have to keep adjusting it to fix their Yoda ears :)

Ty is actually doing really well!! He's already made so much progress from last year and is taking shots at the game and dribbling (we'll work on keeping the ball lower while dribbling later ;). He's gaining a lot more confidence in his skills already which I love seeing in my kids.

These little boys are already bored being at the game... this is gonna be a great season!!! ;) At least TJ is here for the games on Saturdays. I just have to survive a 5:30 practice every Tuesday. But again, it's only ONE practice since they are on the same team. It's amazing!

Happy Birthday Shaddie!

On Saturday, our Shaddie turned 3!

The day before, I took him and Benson to a little Toddler Time trampoline place up in Austin. They both loved it and jumped to their little hearts content! It wasn't very busy so it was nice to just sit back and watch them play. Shaddie kept saying, "this is my favorite place ever!!"
Saturday night after his little family birthday party and presents and a busy day I asked him what his favorite part was. He said it was the trampoline place. So I'm glad made the drive up there since he loved it so much! Afterwards I let him choose somewhere to get lunch and of course, he picked McDonalds. I despise that place and couldn't convince him to go to Chick-fil-A instead, haha. But it was his birthday so he ate every bite of his happy meal and played on the playplace. Afterwards we went home and they took naps until we had to pick up the boys from school. Not a bad little birthday date, as he called it :)

Benson and Shad already love to wrestle all the time!!

McDonalds and HEB- his two favorite places!

The morning on his birthday, TJ took only him out to breakfast at IHOP. He was beyond excited to get to go on a breakfast date with dad. TJ said he was just so happy and giddy and ate every single bite of his waffle. :)

After his breakfast date, just me and Shaddie went to HEB for some groceries, to the dollar store to pick out 3 balloons for his party and then redbox for a birthday movie. Once again, he was so happy to be on a date with mom, no matter what we're doing. Plus, I love how easy it is with just one kid!!

Birthday Boy! Ty and Levi wore the same shirt too :)

Back when Ty was turning 3 and Levi was turning 2, I had planned a little combined birthday party at Hee Haw Farms, which was their favorite little animal farm place. I was doing it in June, right in the middle of both of their birthdays. I had invitations sent out and all this cute farm animal birthday supply stuff ready to go. Well, Dallin's accident happened and there was no way I was going to do a birthday party the week after he was lying in a coma so I cancelled it. Since then I've had this big box of birthday supplies to use. I convinced Shaddie to have an E-I-E-I-O birthday and finally got to use it! It sounds dumb but just looking at it brings back such a mix of emotions- memories from Ty and Levi being so little/hard/fun/exhausting/adorable and feelings of horror/dread/peace/miracles/tender mercies from Dallin's accident. Funny how little things like that can evoke such tender feelings :)

He LOVES Paw Patrol and PJ Masks (Disney cartoon).

Gramma sent a Pottery Barn kids' chair with his name on it!! I've been wanting one of them since Ty was a baby but they are so expensive. Shad LOVES it! He's been sitting in it non-stop and it's the perfect size. It's so cute!

When we were singing Happy Birthday to him he couldn't stop smiling and kept giggling. It was actually quite adorable. He loved the attention and special recognition.

Gekko from PJ Masks! In the cartoon 3 little kids fight crime at night in their pajamas.

After cake and ice cream and presents, the boys watched Pets, a new redbox movie- since VidAngel is getting sued and their movies aren't available :( We're hoping so bad they win! Anyways, he watched in his chair so comfy. Ty and Levi were so excited for his birthday- it's so cute how supportive they are of their little brothers. After his little party and movie, Ty and Levi had their first basketball game and after that we got dinner to celebrate at Taco Cabanas. It actually was a great day together and really fun. It's so nice to have TJ home on weekends!!

Goals

We've had some great weather lately here in Texas. It's soooo nice to just let the kids play outside while I read or study for my classes. I'm taking two classes during these next 7 weeks instead of just the one so it's a little crazy! But I think it'll be worth it later on in the fall when I can just focus on my capstone class before graduation!!! Whoo hooo!!

The boys love to push Benzy around in his car. And he'll just sit there for forever, not moving an inch. He feels big and involved.

Ty and Levi started basketball at the San Marcos Rec Center. It's pretty awesome because they are on the same team since it's 5-6 year olds. Danny German is their coach since Bennett is playing too. A bunch of other ward members are at the gym for their kids' practice too so it's fun. They get so sweaty!!

Levi brought home Spot the Kindergarten Dog and now we get to take pictures with him everywhere we go for the next week. If you know Levi, he has a thing for stuffed animals so he's loving every second he has with Spot. :)

We had a Family Home Evening to set goals. Levi's was to write smaller letters, read the entire book of Enos in the Book of Mormon, start the Piano (we started at the beginning of January) and to learn to ride his bike.
Ty's goals are to be poliet (i.e. to stop grabbing himself like boys like to do!!!), play a song in Primary while the kids sing, finish the Book of Mormon (he's been reading it already for the past year and says he's in Helaman??) learn to tie his shoes and bear his testimony in church.

My goals are to loose the last 15 lbs and get into the 120's (I'm on a whole30 as I type this!!), graduate with my Master's in Dec. 2017 and walk so the kids can see, only kneeling down prayers (I've gotten bad at saying them laying down, snuggling with a kid), finish reading Jesus the Christ, go to the temple once a month (it's harder with it being in San Antonio- an hour away), and do not loose my patience and yell. I get a red X in my planner everyday that I don't loose it. Once I get 30 red X's I get to go get a pedicure. :)

This kid and sleeping!! I just don't get it!! He's regressed and sleeps in our bed every single night. And for all naps now too. Part of it is that three is a crowd and none of the boys want to be on the top bunk by themselves. Also, I don't want Shad to wake up crying in the night and wake up Benson since I've worked so hard to sleep train him (he sleeps an awesome 12 hours straight and that is precious to me). Another thing is that TJ is gone all week so I really don't mind having a sleeping buddy next to me in our big king size bed. So, basically- I don't stop it and let him sleep there.

Butttt.... to make up for it, this kid will come up and tell me when he's tired, either at night or right before bedtime. I'll ask him if he wants to lay down and he'll say yes. I then go tuck him in. He'll play for about 20 minutes or less and then simply roll over and sleep. It's amazing. Seriously, he's done this for the past 6 months. He literally stops playing to come tell me he needs to nap and then willingly goes and lays down. This is probably the most strangest awesome thing any of my kids have done! Leave it to Shaddie to be the one! ;)

Ty and Shad have these amazing eyelashes that come from my mom's side of the family! I used to have them until I had kids :( It's always crazy to see BOYS have such long eyelashes!!

So last Monday I get a call from TJ to tell me his car got broken into!!! It was caught on surveillance cameras but it's too far away and took a total of 3 minutes.  The guy took all of TJ's work clothes in a suitcase that he packed for the week and a bag full of groceries I packed him! His work pants, socks, basketball shorts, shirts, garments, 4 ironed worked shirts hanging up, belt, toiletries, shoes and a towel! He had to come home that night to repack and go shopping to replace everything, take the car into be fixed by the insurance, get a rental car- all that fun stuff. It was a pretty crazy thing and actually, really funny to me. Just a funny little bump in the road!

On Monday we didn't' have school for MLK Day and I wanted to do something fun but didn't want to spend a lot of money for it. After deciding against going to the movies, we have a pretend movie theater at home with popcorn, candy, and soda even! The boys thought it was awesome and we had a relaxing day at home.

This nice Target worker gave Shad and Bens empty Target gift cards when Benson was freaking out over not being able to hold my credit card when I was trying to pay. It was so nice of him! Shad kept saying, "I just LOVE this! This is my FAVORITE!" He then wanted to take a picture of it and since I hardly take pics of myself, we took one together.

Shaddie loves to be a "burrito baby" in a blanket. :)

This crazy kid! I gave him a haircut for his birthday weekend and realized how short a 1 really is. There should be a 1.5 or something??! Or hopefully this kid has normal hair someday that lays flat instead of a giant poof ball. Seriously, the only option is to keep shaving it!
