Just Lately

Last week was our Primary Program and Jordan, her friend Megan, Ruth and Guy all came to watch. (Jordan actually showed up on my doorstep the night before to surprise us by saying hi and that she was in Utah County for the weekend- it was so fun to see her!!)
It was great but I was sure glad when it was over! We have 185 kids in our primary, wrote parts for 175 and then was able to cut it down to 150 parts by taking out inactive kids and families who were out of town. We only went 20 minutes over and it went pretty smoothly- even if I was kneeling, crouched on the stand most of the time with a huge belly. I know I prob looked ridiculous. Ty memorized his part perfect and did well. He turned away after the last word and so turned back to repeat the word and was super close to the microphone so it was loud and laughed. It was pretty cute. Levi had a group part with the sunbeams but is still pretty shy so I wonder if he would've even done a part on his own. Anyways, Ty was so excited and very well behaved sitting up on the stand with all the kids.

The one-month-left-countdown picture. My induction is officially scheduled for Dec. 21 but I've never made it to an induction with all the other kids... trying to not get hopes up.

Shad's thing right now is SOCKS- and lots of them, especially his Paw Patrol socks. He'll wear multiple pairs on each foot and then take them off and carry them around all.day.long. He'll also take off shoes and socks every single time we get back in the car, after and in between every single stop. He can't go anywhere without all his socks!!

The boys were pretty excited for the first snow fall and had to take a picture. Ty is very into taking a picture of things himself, on my phone, and sending it to Grandma Wengert.

Shaddie LOVES it when I let him fall asleep with the boys. This happened the other night and Ty and Levi fell asleep right away. I heard Shad just laying there happily for the next 45 minutes, looking at books and talking to himself until he fell asleep too. :)
Shad worships the ground these older boys walk on. He wants to do everything they do and can't WAIT until they get back home from school. When they are at school, that's all he talks about- nonstop. He literally copies everything they do and his whole world revolves around them. :)

Paw Patrol has taken over our lives!!

TJ brought home a foot and calf massager from work- it's heavenly! Every night after the boys are in bed I sit there and watch TV or read scriptures. It's awesome!!!

Michelle DiRegolo and I are still doing our temple swaps- meaning we take turns watching each others kids' once a week while the other goes to the temple. It's been great going so much more, getting more family names completed and leaving Shaddie alone without his brothers. He does so well now. The Timpanogos  temple was closed for cleaning last week so I had to go down to Provo. I hadn't been there in quite a while but it was such a beautiful day!! I was struck by how beautiful Utah really is, once again!

These boys are officially swimming on their own!!! It's so fun to watch and I'm so glad our efforts are finally paying off! It's been so worth it- all the driving and time/money we've spent. But swimming is really important to me and been great therapy for Ty (to overcome fears).

Last week the boys and I had to go to the mall for Christmas shopping. We spent a good 3 hours there and they were SO good. I was actually quite shocked. It's actually kinda fun when they are so well behaved!

Ty insisted on taking a picture by the 5 since he's 5 1/2 years old now. :)

Ty's Recent Sayings:

- "The capital of California is Sacrament."

- We were having a hard morning and trying to get out the door to school. Ty was crying- again- and I raised my voice. I asked him what was wrong and he said, "You broked my heart!"

- "Mom, bullfighters are in Spain. That's in Europe." What?? How do you know that?? This kid's memory is insane.

- We were practicing the piano and doing our flashcards. He lifted one up so the light shone through so he could see the answer. I told him very gently that that's cheating and he can't do that. We go on with a few more flashcards but he's very quiet and I thought he was pouting. Finally I asked him what's wrong. He tells me he's just sad. I  then ask him why he's sad. He looks up with huge tears in his eyes and says with a look of pure sorrow, "I just don't want to be BAD!!" and throws himself into my arms. :)

- Reading an advertisement for these little Halloween flashlights in a kids' meal and says, "Ohhh Mom! Can we please have spooky fun for everyone and collect all 4??!"

Levi's Recent Sayings:

- When we were at his soccer game he suddenly said, "I wish Molly would come watch me."

- "I killed a fly!!! Good luck in heaven, fly!"

- "Actually, when I grow up, I don't want to be a vet anymore. I want to work at PetsMart."

- When we're at a red stop light: "Hurry up light!!! We'll be LATE!!! Yesssss!!! It heard me!!"

- To Tanner, " Hey Tan! You're a meathead!"

- Telling Ty a story and after Ty told him, "Louder Lev, I can't hear you!" Levi then says, "Ugh, I'm just too tired to talk."

- We were laying down reading books at night the weekend of General Conference when we heard some fireworks go off. We started naming reasons why they could've gone off when Levi shouts, "I know! It's probably someone celebrating the new apostles!"

- "Mom!! I can do AWESOME PAWSOME things!!!"

- "I just saw Shad's special part and it's just sooooo cute!"

- "Our bums are strong. They keep our parts together."

- I was telling them to stop playing with sewing pins because if they got on the floor they could step on them and go right through their foot. Levi says, "Yeah, kinda like Jesus."

- Both boys were talking about what makes bad guys BAD. This was the list they came up with as I listened to their conversation:
"Bad guys don't go to church, think that being dead is the end (we just had FHE on the resurrection), eat candy all day, don't brush their teeth and say bad words."

Maternity Pics

So... I'm not a big fan of maternity pics (of myself) and haven't ever had them done before. I'm just not overly anxious to preserve cheesy memories of me holding my giant belly and the excess 50+ lbs I gain while smiling with my double chins.
However, this time around, it's not very often you get to be pregnant with one of your best friends, expecting your babies four days apart- that changes everything!
Ginger found this free photographer who just moved from out of state who is trying to build up her clientele. The word free also changes everything...
So I made the boys dress up and get ready and come with me to try to get a free family picture in the mix as well. Not the greatest picture ever but not bad for free- and what else do I expect with young, anxious boys who don't want to smile or stand still.
So here's to the next two cousins to come to the Hendriksen Family! I hope they'll always be good buddies and know how much 'fun' their moms had being pregnant with them, at the same time!

Happy Halloween!

On Halloween night, we went over to Lexi's and loaded up the trailer again, like we did last year. The kids love riding it from house to house and we decorate it and play Halloween music loud- we're quite the sight to see! KiLeigh and her family came over again too so it's fun to have all the kids together. They love trick or treating with all their cousins and after we have chili, cornbread, hot chocolate and donuts. It was fun to have Derek and Emily come by for a while as well- they had the cutest costumes and looked so good!!

For some reason we had a hard autism day, all day long, and I didn't fight Ty on what costume he wore- I let him wear whatever made him happy!! So he was in various costumes throughout the night. I made him change into crocodile for a few pictures and then let him get right back out of it. But overall, he had a great Halloween night and enjoyed eating lots of non-chocolate candy and trading the chocolate ones to everyone else. While trick or treating he said, "Mom! This is the BEST night EVER!!"
Anyways, the trailer was fun but kinda hard to get into at 8 months pregnant. Plus with the kids getting older and running around, I was worried someone was going to get run over in the dark. Another thing was that the babies weren't babies anymore this year and had to go to each door to get candy. Then at one point I was getting it and then it stopped suddenly and I fell forward while holding Shaddie and banged up my knee pretty bad. Luckily Shaddie was fine, just scared. Needless to say, by the end of the night I was done and ready to take my tired, cranky, sugar-high children home to bed!!! Good memories, right??!

It really was a fun night though and it's been a fun Halloween season! We did tons of stuff and got A LOT of use out of all our costumes. However, I'm kinda ready to put it all away and move on to the next one- just to get us closer to Christmas to get this baby OUT! :)

I changed after our family Peter Pan picture- like I said, clothes just don't fit very well these days and I live in Maxi skirts!!

Shaddie's first trick or treating

With all of our combined 10 kids running around, it's kinda a big bunch!

Cornbellys and Sports

We went to Cornbellys on probably the coldest day of the month- it was raining and a super cold wind was blowing!! I was dying! The boys seemed okay and loved it and didn't want to leave. Plus it was pretty empty considering it was only two days before Halloween so we did whatever without any lines. I had already bought the tickets for that day and didn't want to loose my money so we braved the cold and stuck it out. The boys loved it and it was a good way to wrap up the Halloween season. Afterwards we went to Cafe Rio so that always fixes everything and warmed us right up.

For the month of October, these boys did acts of service to earn cans for their school's canned food drive. They worked really hard at it and enjoyed taking their cans to school. The school collected over 3,100 cans and Malawi's gave all the kids in the school $5 gift cards!! TJ and I were happy about that!

The usual Halloween parties at school was a big deal for these boys. Ty was very excited that Miss Cheri asked if I'd send a take home treat for each of the kids. This probably was exciting to him because he got to pick treats that he actually liked and no chocolate!
Ty had a variety of costumes that he wore to different parties and was always changing it up. The crocodile that went with our Peter Pan theme got old to him pretty fast but luckily he loves all the costumes we have in our pretend play box. It was such a dilemma deciding which one to be on what day!
The night before Halloween we went to a Halloween carnival at the Lehi Rec Center. I took the boys so TJ could stay home and study and it actually ended up being a lot of fun! The kids loved it and we were there for a good two and a half hours playing games, trick or treating and watching a movie. I will miss Utah County's huge outreach to young kids- there's always so much going on and so many things to do for kids around here.

Shad HAD to have his picture taken with every superhero he could see.

Yes, I'm a very large skeleton sitting here. Blah!!!!

Ty started Jr. Jazz Basketball on Saturdays- he LOVES it and now says that basketball is his favorite sport. We also finished up soccer which is nice since basketball and soccer overlapped for two weeks. The boys played awesome in their last soccer games (which was on Halloween which is why the Halloween socks and Levi wanted his hair spray painted orange). They each scored a goal and played their little hearts out. HUGE difference from last year. I'm so glad we stuck through it last year when it seemed pointless or had crying boys on the sideline that didn't want to play. I'll actually be excited when spring soccer starts back up again! We also had have great coaches this year as well.
Ginger and her boys drove down to watch the boys games- so nice of her and means a lot to the boys. We love our cousins!

Coach Clay and the Water Dragons

I looked away for two seconds and turned around to see this :)
