Viva Colombia!

Last Sunday Ruth, TJ's mom, had everyone over for a big family birthday celebration for those who had birthdays in August. Since it was almost TJ's bday, he got to choose the meal. He chose to have Colombian food- which also happens to be one of my very favorites!!

Ruth came over from Colombia with her family when she was 14 years old. So the Colombian culture is a huge part of her life and she has passed that love onto her kids. Soccer, latin music, Colombian food- second nature to TJ. I've come to love it too and the diversity it adds to our family. I love that our kids have both Colombian and Mexican blood in them (you'd think they'd be a little darker??! ;)

So on Sunday Ruth had her mom and her aunt both come over to help make the food- talk about authentic! It was delicious and I loved watching and learning how to make a lot of it. Definitely will take some practice but I  want our kids to grow up with this stuff since it means so much to TJ.

Everyone also put together a little book with 30 reasons why they love TJ- lots of memories and stories. It was awesome!
