One Month

One Month Old!

We are so in love with this sweet, calm, easy, chill little boy! Our whole family just worships the ground he lays on :) I love seeing my boys love on him and the smiles he brings to their faces.  He's a snuggler and would sleep all day long if someone is holding him. He's still in newborn diapers and clothes but I'm watching his legs get chunkier and that double chin starting. He's a great little eater and doesn't sleep too shabby either. He'll usually go from 9 pm to about 2 am and then every two hours after that- I can definitely handle that! It's great!

He'll sometimes cry and when I can't get to him right that moment he'll stop and realize it's not his turn yet. :) Definitely a third child trait. I've realized it's okay if crying happens and this has helped me be a lot less frazzled. People have asked how the transition from 2 to 3 kids has been- overall, pretty surprisingly good! It has just made me realize what a nightmare going from 1 to 2 kids was with an out-of-control autistic toddler and newborn too close together, haha!

We love this little Shadie Boy!!

Ty's language is "exploding" in the words of all his teachers- it's amazing! I love hearing what's going on in his little brain that finally has a way out! He startles me with the things he can remember and recall from a long time ago as well as the words he uses- words I didn't know he knew (like Perfect! and Delicious!). We really do have to be careful what we say now because he really does remember EVERYTHING! And we're talking sentences here, people- not just words! It's amazing.

This was a conversation we had today as we were driving to school- a CONVERSATION! We are just starting to have these things- never thought it was possible.

Ty: I saw kids going back home!
Mom: Oh yeah, what do you think they were going back home for?
Ty: To eat breakfast.
Mom: Oh that's a good thing to do. What do you think they were eating for breakfast?
Ty: Pie.
Mom: Oh really? Do you like pie?
Ty: Yes.
Mom: What kind of pie do you like?
Ty: The kind you eat with your mouth.

Oh, of course. What a silly question.
But besides the fact that he's never even touched any kind of pie with his finger without gagging, this is huge for us! I was very proud of him and the progress he is rapidly making. I know this is something so small and insignificant and most kids his age have been doing this for one or two years but around here, we celebrate the small stuff!!

Valentine's Weekend

This little guy was soooo excited for Valentine's Day this year- he wanted to "hurry up and go to sleep" so he could wake up and it would be Valentine's Day (unheard of- wanting to go to sleep! Can everyday be Valentine's Day??). He was so excited to pass out his V day cards to all his friends. He had sooo much fun picking out each Valentine for his buddies, writing his name and deciding which candy went with it. He carried the bag around for 2 days before. Levi just like eating as much candy as he could. :)

This was also the weekend that Dallin and Amy moved back up to Utah!!! They were sooo excited to be moving back to Logan and back to what their previous life used to be. Dallin will go back to working at the sheep farm and start school in the fall! This is such a big step for them! It was also fun to see Baby Clay again and for my boys to meet him. Dallin and Amy hadn't met Shad yet either. We had a big lunch with Devin and Teddi too.

It was so funny- Clay moved his head over and felt "flesh" and immediately started sucking. Then Shad felt it and turned and they were smacking on each other. :)

These guys are exactly 3 weeks apart- they were both born on a Tuesday.

I like Clay's face in this one :)

Levi had been crying right before this pic- that's why his face is all red. I promised him candy if he'd sit up and take a picture with the babies- works every time with this kid!

Amy's such a good little momma!!!

The whole gang- can't wait for Devin and Teddi's baby to be born around April 4th!! (Levi was taking a nap).

Ty has become the pacifier expert.

Both babies were rooting and trying to latch on- hahaha!

Levi comes up about 20x a day (seriously) and says, "Hi Bebe!" and then wants to hold him.

(Yes, he needed a haircut really bad this night). We made a giant Valentine's Day cookie for our family night treat on our messy kitchen table. Again, Ty was so excited for this holiday- I'm not completely sure why the fascination with it. :)

Oh the days where we all could fit into the sink.....

3 weeks old

For our actual Valentine's Day, we didn't go anywhere or do anything too great but it was so nice and relaxing. TJ was able to come home early and be here for our lunch with Dallin and Amy so that was a treat in and of itself. That night we made the BEST dessert ever- it was soooo good- Red Velvet Cake Pazookie with Vanilla Bean ice cream (half baked cookie). Pinterest came through quite nicely on this one!!

Overall it was a great little Valentine's Day! TJ sent me a little bamboo heart plant because I told him I didn't want anything and especially not flowers (no point when I'm just at home and they die anyways). His note was so cute because he said, "These are not flowers. Let me explain. Did you know that bamboos are some of the fastest growing plants in the world? Did you know that my love for you grows faster than bamboo? That's right, babe! I love you!"

It was adorable. :)

Tara sent me a box of white chocolate covered strawberries from Edible Arrangements.  She sent them on Wednesday because it was free shipping!  I almost loved that she was thinking how to save money more than the strawberries themselves.  They were so good and it was fun to get them at work too.  It was nice to get them on Wednesday when I do not have school so I could bring them home and share them with Tara and boys.

Newborn Pics

I'm in love with how these turned out!! It was so fun and amazing to watch the photographer work- she was so talented. And little Shad did pretty well too- so sweet. :)

Thanks, Bree from Bluebird Photography!

Life with Three

Levi was so proud to match with Shadie Boy. Good thing he's a shrimp and can still fit into 24 month outfits. :)

He has a thing about Shad's nose too...

Shad is starting to be a little more alert and getting that old man look to him :)

Some things I'm learning about him: he LOVES the carseat and driving definitely lulls him to sleep- which is a good thing since this little guy gets hauled all over the place already with his brothers. I'm trying to keep him away from public places and at home as much as possible due to respiratory season (I worry about whopping cough and RSV) but there's just some things I can't avoid and poor kid has to come along. Guess that's what happens when you aren't the oldest :) He hates having his diaper changed which is the only time he really cries. He sleeps fairly well for a newborn- much better than my last two- and is very calm, chill and patient.

Yesterday he had his two week appointment and circumcision, poor little man. He did great though, especially with the sucrose (sugar water :)

At 2 weeks: 7 lbs, 9 oz (20%)
20.5 inches long (49%)
35.7 head circ (48%)

We did a week of free swimming lessons that his teachers offer during the winter to help them retain skills. Not the best timing but I couldn't pass them up for free! As an AZ girl, it seems crazy to me to put on your swimming suit with snow outside on the ground but these boys LOVE going and did really well. It was worth the effort even though I had to be super organized to get out the door at 7:20 am and go directly to preschool and doctor's appointments/meetings after.

Shad did so well at swimming- just hung out and didn't make a sound.
They are always so proud of the stamps they get after their lessons are over. :)

Oh, the things kids do while Mom is nursing and can't do anything....

I've realized my life is going to be filled with lots of wrestling, hee-yas and yelling for many years now. The boys are suddenly very into Power Rangers, Transformers and Avengers lately (because of Netflix- we don't have TV. I'm missing Disney Junior!!!) thus my days are filled with lots of hee-yahs and play fighting. I would've never thought my kids would be playing Power Rangers- I remember playing it on the playground in elementary school and I was always Kimberly, the pink ranger. My brothers and I would play it on the trampoline at home as well and Devin was always green or red ranger (same as Ty) and Dallin was blue or whoever Devin told him to be (same as Levi). Life has a funny way of repeating itself. I sometimes feel like I'm raising a Devin and Dallin all over again :)

Levi likes to lick Shad like a puppy- obviously, Shad isn't exactly fond of being licked :)
Ty is into making funny faces and then wants to see what he looks like on the iPhone. That explains the facial expressions in all the pictures.

Shad is usually so content just to lay there and hang out while his brothers go crazy all around him. However, the other day I walked into the bedroom to see the boys sharing a smartie candy with him- in his mouth!!! Needless to say I'm watching him a little more careful so his brothers don't kill him with their love :)

How Levi sleeps during his naps... so comfy.

In all seriousness though, I love having three kids. I literally am grateful every single day that Levi came so close after Ty and that they have each other. I know that's the reason this transition from two to three hasn't been bad. I'm also so grateful Shad came when he did and not sooner (like in August, my miscarriage pregnancy due date), like I had wanted and planned. Heavenly Father knew what He was doing and knew what a drastic difference a few months would make. Love my boys!!
