Cousin Love

When Ginger had the baby, I got to take Parker with me for most of the day- it was so fun to have these two around together! They just seriously LOVE each other. They were so funny dancing in Cafe Rio, laughing, tickling each other, and sticking their fingers in each others ears. So funny to hear them talk to each other in their little toddler gibberish. :)

And yes, they were even kissing.

I wish I had had my real camera to take better quality pics of these two- they crack me up.

18

18 weeks

This pregnancy is kinda fun in the sense that the boys think they understand what is going on. When I was pregnant with Levi, Ty was so little and had zero concept of anything going on, even after he was born. They both will come up and "look for the baby"- meaning lift up my shirt to see if they can see him. They also kiss my belly and often point to their own bellies and say, "Baby in here too!" They do that especially after they've eaten and their stomachs are bigger and full, haha.

This pregnancy has been pretty good so far. The morning sickness is pretty much gone and only comes when I work a full night shift and I'm up past 3 or 4 am. I haven't thrown up at all this pregnancy, just get very nauseated and want to puke. I crave sandwiches with lunch meat from the deli, sliced cheese, mayo and mustard (I don't like mustard) with chips. I also crave good salads covered in salad dressing, grapes, Cafe Rio, and Tostitos Cheese dip with tortilla chips. Weird, I know. I've never eaten gross cheese dip before in my life but it's so YUMMY! I still eat a lot and around the clock and have gained 13 lbs so far- blah. My sense of smell is crazy this time which is so fun working in the ER, as you can imagine. I feel 10x bigger this time around, amazed at the difference between pregnancies 1/2 and 3. The size I'm at was what I was at 24+ weeks with the other boys. Oh well, I know I'll gain lots of weight so bring it on. I've had a pooch since 7 weeks and people already comment since it's so obvious.

Ty has named the baby Benji.

No idea where he got that name or how he even heard of it before.

So we call him Benji, oddly enough. And no, that's not going to be his real name. I have zero ideas as to a name. I have a tons of girls names of course.... Good thing we have several months, otherwise he'd be Baby Boy Hendriksen for life.

Funny story:
The first time I told Ty that there was a baby brother in my tummy and that he's getting bigger so he can be born later. Ty gets excited and that was when he decided on Baby Benji as his name. TJ walks in and I tell Ty to tell him where the baby is. Ty is about to point to my stomach but stops and looks up at the "other bumps" on me. :) He then points to my boob and says, "Baby!" TJ and I start laughing while I tell him that no, he's down in my belly. Ty says, "No! Two babies!" and points to my chest again. By this time we are laughing so hard we're crying (had to be there) and again, show him the right area of where babies grow. He then stares for a minute, shrugs his shoulders and says, "Okay, three babies. 1, 2, 3." Normally I'm so flat chested that these boys are starting to notice other changing things about me and they are very confused!

I walked in and found the boys very proud of their new artwork on the carpet- ahhhh! I was so mad!!! Guess it's time to get our carpets cleaned at least. And they are washable markers so that's good too. Still!!! Ty was so proud of the house he drew and the people.... needless to say we won't be coloring for a while.

I have a lady coming out to evaluate Levi's speech from Early Intervention. I'm just starting to realize that Levi really is slightly delayed in expressive speech as I'm noticing him interacting with other kids his age. Nothing like Ty was at his age but still, a slight delay is there. I have no other concerns in any other areas- again, not like Ty- but I'm hoping he qualifies for speech since it's so good for them!

Potty training continues to go well! We still have a few accidents here and there- mostly when he's having too much fun to stop and notice- but so nice to only have one in diapers! I love it!

Levi has been completely out of his crib now for the last month or so. Putting them to bed is so much easier since they both do better having each other. I found them like this the other night, haha. Totally spooning! Later when I checked on them one last time they had both flipped to the other side and were spooning the other way! So guess it really was on purpose and for comfort. :)

Ty- 3 years, 3 months
Levi- 2 years, 1 month

How fun would it be to have a sibling this close in age? I would've LOVED that growing up. These boys are sure lucky to have each other. And another little brother to add to the mix too.

My good friend had her baby girl yesterday and the sweet thing was immediately life flighted to Primary Children's for heart complications. I guess they almost lost her a few times but is stable now and I just can't stop thinking about it! Mostly because we have a family history of congenital heart defects and a baby brother who passed away from it. I just feel so worried and bad for Lanaya and her little family. I think we take for granted healthy babies sometimes and it really is such a miracle when a baby is born. I'm grateful for the overall health of my two boys and pray this little guy is doing okay inside without any problems. With having another boy I sometimes worry about Autism again and other things but overall, I know that Heavenly Father is aware of our needs and struggles and all will be alright in the end. :)

Family Pics

When I found out I was pregnant this summer, I knew I wanted to get family pictures done before I got big and fat. So I found a good deal on groupon and got them done and over with.

Even though we got a few with the boys smiling pretty cute, it took an arm and a leg to get these. You have no idea. Ty- for some reason- did not want to take pictures AT ALL. He wasn't just crying or grumpy but a full on tantrum. Levi looked at Ty and thought that pictures must be dumb and wouldn't smile and was hard to get to cooperate as well. The poor photographer- he was doing EVERYTHING he could think of to get them to smile and just sit there. Finally after putting rocks on his head and having them fall off onto his nose, he got a smile and laugh from both. So he proceeded to continue to do that the entire time- poor guy was sweating by the time we were done. But... it was worth it!!!

We weren't able to get any good ones of the boys together or separate. But that was okay. I was totally willing to take what I could get!

We only got a few good ones of all of us smiling so I cropped a few where just 2 of us were looking good, just to have.

This little guy can now say his full name- Ty Hendriksen!

The one and only attempt of getting one of the boys together...

FAILED!

One of Levi's buddies, Beckham, can't say his name. He calls him Lehi, Nephi instead of Levi- haha! Lehi, Levi- close enough!

As soon as we were done, the boys were happy and smiling and running around the park. I was so MAD at these boys but finally just had to laugh.

Levi's giant bruise on his forehead is photoshopped out in every picture. He got that the day before- of course. Doesn't that always happen?

Lawson Hendrik Smith

We got to meet grandson #9 today- Lawson Hendrik Smith. Hendriksen is Ginger's maiden name and they shortened it to name him after her dad and that side of the family- I think it's so cute cause it has such meaning!!
This little guy came in quite the rush- the day before Ginger was supposed to be induced!! From start to finish he came in about 5 hours and only 1 hour after arriving at the hospital!! We were all quite surprised but so glad he's here safe and sound. He looks so much different from Parker and I'm excited for my little guy to come since I know these two will be best buds.

Today was so good for me to see- watching my two boys love on this little baby made me sooo excited for ours to come- regardless of the gender. :) They were so good with him!! And especially Levi!! I'm over not having a girl, really, but today just really solidified it. A healthy baby is truly such a miracle. And another sweet baby boy!! Wow! Thinking about what he'll look like- especially since my two are totally different- is fun for me and exciting. Will he be more like Ty or Levi or a whole different look??

But it's so funny to watch how involved Levi likes to be with the baby. When he started crying, Ty ran away from him but Levi patted him on the leg and tried to give him his pacifier while kissing him. He wanted to hold him and was just so cute with him.

But after a while they were both distracted by trying to make the bed move up and down.

Ty was excited to show the baby the pictures he colored for him- even though he insisted on printing off the Baby Girl one he saw on the computer.

He weighed 7 lbs, 14 oz and was born at 1:54 pm on 8/15/13.

The new big brother!!
Parker was so sweet to him and loving. It was so fun to have Parker all day today- our three boys just LOVE each other so much. Him and Levi would dance and laugh at Cafe Rio, burp in the car and say, "Excuse me!" and laugh so hard, and he'd call me "Mommy" all day long- it was so funny! He's such a sweet and easy kid to have around, so polite and obedient.

I truly believe the best gift you can ever give your child is a sibling. If you think about it, it's the longest lasting relationship you'll ever have in this life :)

Summer

Last week I helped with a yard sale and my boys had so much fun with the Weight kids! Thomas was the best baby sitter and these guys loved being pulled around all morning. Obviously Ty enjoyed it since he was king of it all and got the best spot.

Ty has this thing about wearing his stickers that I bring home from the ER on his legs. They are great potty box motivation but he'll leave them on for as long as I'll let him- for days if he could. These last ones were on so long the adhesive won't come off and he looks like his legs are diseased. I'm still scrubbing the remaining spots of it off every night. Such weird kids with Ty's sticker obsession and Levi's DVD carrying!! :)

Levi REALLY wanted me to buy this One Direction backpack from Kohls. Sorry kiddo.

Our first encounter with coloring on the things other than paper, dang it. I didn't want to freak out on them but not sure I was stern enough to get the message across that this is bad. Guess we'll see if they do it again. We keep saying over and over that "Coloring is only for.... paper!!" Luckily it was all washable and came off easy and none on the actual walls.

Clueless.
But he did redeem himself in my eyes today- while we were driving home from the splash pad we were approaching the Timpanogos Temple. We were still kind of a ways away from it when Ty yelled out, "Temple!!" I was so surprised!! I know that doesn't seem like much but for this kid it's huge! Maybe all the screaming and crying during scripture study, family prayers, and FHE is paying off a little.... :)

We went to the Splash Pad with Parker today- last time doing something with just one Smith cousin!! Ginger is set for her induction on FRIDAY!! We are so excited for this baby boy to come!! I should've taken a picture of how adorable Ginger looks 9 months preg- definitely no fair.

How hilarious is this kid?? He had to wear Levi's goggles- I can't decide if he looks like an adorable Quasimodo or a left-sided stroke patient more??

These two had so much fun playing together- it's so fun to watch! I just wish Levi would gain weight- he gets so cold so quick and so easy even with it being 90 degrees outside!!! It's crazy!

Levi- 2 years old

Fitting 3 kids in a double stroller- oh yeah!!
