Oh boy!!

Well, today was the day! We found out that we're having a little boy! What a neat experience!! We were both way excited, kinda nervous but the ultrasound lady was very nice and good at her job. The room was way neat since it had a giant big screen TV in front of us so we didn't have to stare at the tiny ultrasound screen and try to make out the fuzzy black and white. It was easy to see him (well maybe a little easier for me than TJ- I used to work with ultrasounds) and the very first thing we saw was his little hand spread out and all five fingers- it was like he was waving to us! I'm annoyed though because I have this nice printer that has all these features on it and I can't even figure out how to use the scanner part. I'll have TJ do it when he gets home so you can see him. He was laying down on his belly so we have 4 pictures- one of his whole body but mostly you can see the little spine, one of his little arm (I'm sure he's trying to flex, typical boy), one of his cute tiny head, and then what she labled his "boy stuff." It took her a little while to be able to tell though because he kept opening and closing his legs- she said he put on quite a show! Neither one of us really cared that much what it was, however, the first 3 months I was convinced it was a girl. But definately a way fun surprise finding out! We sure love our little man already!!

One Year From When We Met

One year ago from today Tara and I met. I love telling the story on how we met and I love hearing Tara tell it too. She had met my sister Mandie I think earlier in the week and Mandie wanted us to met. Tara had not lived in Utah too long. Mandie told Tara that she would not tell me that she wanted us to met. A big group of friends were going to the Real Salt Lake game. We were all going out to eat at TGIFs before the game. Mandie had called me earlier that day (she called when I was making the streamers with Vannessa to throw on the field - see picture below) She told me that she was going to bring a friend and she wanted me to at least just say hi. If I wanted to do anything more that was up to me. I have to add this because Tara will not let me tell the story otherwise. I had a friend that I was going to the game with. It wasn't really a date because we both paid for ourselves, but at the end of the night I was sitting by Tara and doing everything I could to talk to her. This year has gone by fast but has been the best year in my life so far! It is only going to get better as we start our family. I feel SO lucky to be married to Tara. She makes me better in so many ways! She is truly the better half.

This is the night that we met. Notice where Tara and I are. We just seemed to end up by each other.

This is the most recent game we went to. Tara loves watching soccer with me and especially going to games. This game was the first round of the playoffs against Columbus Crew. RSL won 1-0.

Check out all the streamers!! That was SO much fun! We made all those and passed them out so everyone could throw them! It was awesome!

The Joys of Pregnancy!

So after a doctor's appointment yesterday that showed I had LOST a couple of pounds ( I do NOT know how that's possible since I eat so much all the time and it's not always healthy, it's at odd times of the day and night, and I exercise about 1/4 of what I used to do) I decided to really take more pleasure in eating. I definately have so far but always with the post-pregnancy weight worry in the back of my mind. :) I've experienced too many years of my mom waking up at unhumanly (is that a word?) times of the morning to exercise for 2 hrs or watching her load up the jogging stroller with snacks and books and games with Jordan and Janae screaming and crying while strapping newborn Tanner on the front pack to "walk" her 7.1 miles to the dairy and back in the Arizona heat (her walk is a normal person's jog, I'm serious! But that's how she lost 70 lbs in 6 mo. after Tanner! It's hard to imagine my mom hitting 200 lbs the last week before he was born!). But after losing weight doing the opposite of what I've done my whole entire life, I've realized I need to enjoy this more, especially since this 2nd trimester is definately waaaay better and it won't be like this after the baby's here!!! So this morning I got up and fixed what I haven't eaten in years- bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns. Mulitply this exact meal x3 serving sizes and this is what the typical breakfast meal would be each morning before early morning seminary for my two brothers, Devin and Dallin. I would walk pleasantly into the kitchen at 5 am and very politely and sweetly say, "I can't eat this- thanks a lot. This'll make me so fat- you stupid boys can eat whatever you want. It's not fair!" as my mom would hand me my healthy smoothie or Grape Nuts with Skim milk that she made just for me, without saying a word to her sweet and loving teenage daughter. My mom sure put up a lot with me, especially when she was 40 years old and pregnant with kid #9 as well as an extremely delightlyful, pleasant 16 year old daughter at the same time who couldn't be more embarrassed of her and her current "condition." Oh the memories! With this new experience in my life right now, I am so grateful to my mom and all that she sacrificed for us kids. She's an amazing lady and I'm glad I can still continue to learn so much from her in every stage of my life!
